Guinness Books & Records - Episode 28 - Record Store Day 2024
Sunday May 05, 2024
Sunday May 05, 2024
It's our third RSD episode! It was actually recorded the day after RSD, as I had to scoot early to see a play. Still, some good tunes, book chat and a double-dose of Bob Marley, for the reggae-heads! Just the Furious Four this time around, as Owen and Ness couldn't be there for the recording.

February 2024 Mix - Gazelle Twin's "Alpha-Podcast" Mix Reconstructed
Sunday Mar 24, 2024
Sunday Mar 24, 2024
I've been listening to a bit of Gazelle Twin (Elizabeth Bernholz) lately - it's really skewed, psychedelic electronic stuff. I was searching around for any mixes she may have made and found the website for the Alpha Podcast. She created a mix for the site in 2019, but I couldn't find a file, even on Soulseek. The track-list was still on the site, so I located all of the tracks and re-created the mix. Segues and edits are all mine. Just as a slight warning, all of the tracks are pretty avant-garde. Enjoy!

Guinness Books & Records - Episode 26 - December 2023 - Holiday Special #3
Tuesday Jan 16, 2024
Tuesday Jan 16, 2024
We got together just after the holiday season for another special episode - sans Owen, unfortunately. It's got loads of cheer, mince pies, book chat and of course, "Sprout Or Santa"! Oh yeah, the final "Song For Europe" too. If you listened to the last episode, you'll know what the choice is...if you haven't, well, you'll find out! Ho Ho Ho!

Guinness Books & Records - Episode 25 - November 2023
Wednesday Dec 06, 2023
Wednesday Dec 06, 2023
Another winter is nearly upon us - frosty grass and shorter days. Here's our first new show in a couple of months and with nearly the whole crew present! There's the usual mix of tunes and some great book chat - plus, the penultimate "Song For Europe". Enjoy!

Guinness Books & Records - Episode 24 - September 2023
Tuesday Sep 12, 2023
Tuesday Sep 12, 2023
Our first group episode since RSD, back in April. Sadly, no Ness or Owen, but the Fab Four were in fine form. Some book chat, Matt's Cookery Corner and an extra-long "Medley Of The Departed"! All the usual GB&R hijinks - a perfect end-of-summer companion.

Guinness Books & Records - Mini Episode #2 - ”The Roots Of Heavy”
Saturday Aug 19, 2023
Saturday Aug 19, 2023
Our second mini-episode - this one runs about 45 minutes. Malcolm discusses his theory that the rock-n-roll of the 1950s and early 1960s was a direct influence on the hard rock and heavy metal of the 1970s. It's gonna get loud!

June 2023 Mix - Tenderfeet On Blue Carpets In May
Tuesday Jul 04, 2023
Tuesday Jul 04, 2023
A mix to celebrate the springtime, though there's not really a theme. Some nice, breezy tunes for a lovely May afternoon.

Thursday May 04, 2023
Thursday May 04, 2023
We got together for our annual Record Store Day shindig - bought some LPs, ate some food and then hit the pub. A few beers later, here's the result. Book chat, music and even history lessons, courtesy of Prof. Matt! Check this out, then fire up your turntable and give your fave LP a spin!

March 2023 Mix - Dozy Takes A Trip (a.k.a. Cake Out In The Rain)
Friday Apr 07, 2023
Friday Apr 07, 2023
I recently read Rob Chapman's "Psychedelia And Other Colours" and in it, he mentions this mix. It was originally a feature in MOJO Magazine, in their "Home Taping" section. I managed to find the tracklist online and found all of the tunes. So, here it is, a synthetic side of late 60s/early 70s psychedelia. It'll show you that you're everywhere and get you home for tea.
